Our brand new three-event Community Series celebrates Piffaro’s 25 years in Philadelphia: Our biannual National Recorder Competition in January, our brand NEW (R)en Electronica Mash-up Composers Competition in April and our not-just-another-wine-n-cheese TRAVELOGUE Series featuring our recent tour to Bolivia. Hear the best of the best on January 29 at 4 pm at Arch Street Meeting when 4 young recorder competitors from across the nation convene. The event includes a showcase concert from a group of budding local players, ages 10-12, as well as performances from the 4 finalists.

We established the contest in 2007 to pique the interest of young recorder players, ages 12 to 18, and to encourage them explore 15th-17th century recorder and other early wind instrument repertoire. Our 2009 competition was held at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia, and these pictures reflect the spirit of collaboration and excellence brought in from competitors from across the country. Know someone who should enter? Read more at our new website and let us know at info@piffaro.com.
