            Vespers by Kile Smith
            Monday, January 9, 2012, 7:30 pm
New York audiences will hear this work by Philadelphia composer Kile Smith for the first time. Rave reviews have followed this exquisite piece since its composition in 2007 and its recorded release in 2009. Vespers is a special and mesmorizing work, not only for its sheer aural beauty, but because Smith truly created a transcendent sonority within the limits of the Renaissance instruments. “An ethereal, homogeneous synthesis [of old and new] with an immediately identifiable personality…..The spiritual solidity of his music is full of distinctive rewards.” [Philadelphia Inquirer]
